Stop losing count. Hear the phrase.

A metronome that counts the way DJs actually think — not just beats, but bars, 8-bar phrases, and 32-bar sections. Turn it on, count along out loud until it's automatic. This is the exact skill from the Phrasing lesson, made practiseable.

1-2-3-4
Bar 1 of 8  ·  Phrase 1 of 4  ·  Press start
This phrase — 8 barsBar 1 / 8
This section — 4 phrases (32 bars)Phrase 1 / 4
How to use it: pick the BPM of a track you're learning (or one of the chips above), press start, and count along out loud — ONE-2-3-4, TWO-2-3-4 … up to eight, then start the next phrase at ONE again. The louder click on bar 1 of every phrase is your anchor. Once you can count a full 32-bar section without checking the screen, you can count a real track the same way — which is the entire trick behind knowing exactly when to bring the next one in.

Reading it is the easy half.

The bit that actually moves you on is someone stood next to you saying “that’s why it slid.” I teach one to one in King’s Lynn on the real thing — Pioneer CDJ-3000X, a DJM-V10-LF and Technics 1210s — not a controller you’ll never see in a booth.
