How to beatmatch

How to lock two tracks together

  1. 1Play both decks. They start at different speeds — Deck A is your reference, Deck B is a few BPM faster, so you'll hear them fight.Press both play buttons. Two beats start — they don't line up yet. That's your job to fix.
  2. 2Match the tempo. Slide Deck B's pitch fader until its BPM reads the same as Deck A. The bar going “boom… boom… boom” slows right down when you're close.Move the pitch fader on Deck B until both discs spin at the same speed.
  3. 3Line up the beat. Same speed isn't enough — the kicks can still be off. Tap NUDGE +/− on Deck B to shove it forward or back until the marker sits in the green zone.Tap the NUDGE buttons to slide Deck B until the two dots meet at the top.
  4. 4Lock it. Tempo matched + beats aligned = IN SYNC / LOCKED and a green glow. Now ride the crossfader from A to B for a clean blend.Green ring = you did it! Now slide the crossfader across to swap from one track to the other.
Pro tip

Beatmatch with your ears, not your eyes. Real booths are dark and the numbers lie a little. Flip on “Hide numbers” and listen: two beats drifting sound like a horse galloping — d-dug… d-dug. Nudge until that gallop collapses into one fat thud. That single sound is a locked mix.Close your eyes and listen! When two beats are wrong they sound like a horse running — da-dum da-dum. Keep nudging until it turns into one big BOOM. That's when it's right.

Use the EQ like a pro: pull Deck B's LOW down before you bring it in, so two kicks never clash, then swap the bass across on the drop.Try the EQ faders — pull LOW down and the boom disappears. Push it up and it comes back!
